East Mountain Optomechanical gets New Name

East Mountain Optomechanical, Inc., a three-year old Albuquerque company that specializes in the design and fabrication of optomechanical hardware for the Photonics Industry, has announced that it is getting a new name. "From now on, we'll be known as E M Optomechanical, Inc.," said company founder and president Tom Swann. The new name comes at the same time that the company launched a new web page to attract customers from outside New Mexico. "We're well known in New Mexico, but there's a whole world out there that could use our services," said Swann.
The new name is shorter, removes the geographical reference which is meaningless outside New Mexico, and makes more sense considering the company's Internet domain name "emopto.com."
Founded in 1998, E M Optomechanical is a spin-off of Optomec, Inc., an 18-year old multi-million dollar Albuquerque firm that Mr. Swann also founded in 1983.
